In the wreckage, he finds a sash that boosts his Warding, a stat which reduces damage taken by magic attacks (like Armor does for physical damage). Thanaeon explodes an end table at the monster, damaging it and destroying its armor, then uses a bolt of cloth to strangle it. All it can do is walk back and forth and make annoyed noises at you while you interfuse with various items and blast it with magic. There's one enemy which is stuck on the other side of a barricade. The next battle is basically a freebie tutorial for magic. This is especially good between damage-focused characters, like a hunter and a mystic.Īnyway, while Talam and Perri are making their way towards the tower, let's go see how Thanaeon is doing. ![]() A stunt triggered by Oh Yeah, Watch This cannot itself trigger the buff, but stacking stunt chance on one member of a rivalry is an effective method for feeding the rival stunts. When two rivals are in a battle together, and one of them stunts, their rival gets the buff "Oh yeah? Watch this!" which boosts their stunt chance based on the strength of the rivalry until they successfully stunt. Stunting is Wildermyth's version of Critical Hits on any attack, a character has a chance to stunt, dealing extra damage and possibly having other effects. Perri is now a Hunter, and gets Silkstep, which lets them enter stealth (attacks from stealth ignore all armor), and Foxflight, which boosts their movement speed passively, but they can expend the boost to automatically dodge the next two attacks against them.ĭuring this stretch I'm given the opportunity to choose a relationship between Perri and Thanaeon they can't romance each other (because Perri is already romancing Talam), but I can pick between a rivalry or a friendship in this case, Perri and Thanaeon have some conflicting personality traits, so I went with a rivalry - rivalries are potentially the most powerful relationship type, since they can drastically boost the party's overall stunt chance. In addition, both Talam and Perri gain their first level in an actual class Talam is now a warrior, gaining the Guardian ability (which lets him take a defensive stance and make a free attack against any enemy that moves adjacent to him) and Wolfcall, which boosts the movement speed of all allies for a turn whenever he kills an enemy. In the wake of the battle, Talam finds a hide cloak and shrugs it on (boosting his health slightly). The roe mauls Talam, injuring him but not putting him out of the fight, and he swings his frying pan again, blasting the corrupted beast away and killing it. Certain weapons (like daggers) have boosted damage while flanking as well. Perri dives across the yard and puts an arrow into the Roe's back an attack made from more than 90 degrees away from the angle of a previous attack against the same enemy is considered a flanking attack, and has a drastically boosted chance to hit. The Roe attempts to close with Perri, but they are hiding behind a barrel, and Talam charges out of the house to slam the roe with his frying pan. Perri leads the way out into the yard, revealing the Roe, a corrupted deer monster dripping glowing blue-green ichor. I used my handy dandy random decision maker (a d6), and Talam grabbed the frying pan. I was given the option of choosing between several weapon options for Talam a pitchfork, a pickaxe, or a frying pan. Since Talam is our party's warrior, that means he's going to be up front and getting attacked a lot, so Perri will be getting bonus damage against enemies a lot.Īfter putting out a few fires on the way into town, Talam reaches Perri's house. ![]() ![]() This is generally useful, due to relationship mechanics: characters who are romancing each other get bonus damage against enemies who have attacked their romantic partner. I'm given the chance to choose Talam's relationship with Perri after some consideration, I looked up their personality traits and the relationships web on the Wildermyth wiki to determine whether or not their personalities were compatible, and they are! So, Talam and Perri have a thing for each other. Very well, I shall begin the tale of The Age of Ulstryx.
